How to link PayPal with M-Pesa

In this post I'll show you how to link your paypall account with Mpesa, how to send money from mpesa to paypal and transfer from paypal account to mpesa.
Many Kenyans are now finding themselves in a position that they need to use an internal money transfer in one way or another, either to receive money from abroad, make international payments, pay bills like Netflix Subscriptions and so much more.
While that can be done easily and conviniently using PayPal, the initial process of loading your Paypal wallet used to be a tricky one, either having to go to your bank Branch to link your bank account to PayPal or having a friend send you money from their PayPal account, mostly with a small fee.
In order to shorten this long process, Safaricom and PayPal have partnered with the help of TransferTo so as to allow registered M-Pesa users in Kenya link their M-Pesa and PayPal accounts, as well as easily transfer money between the two accounts.
With this you can now trade and transact internationally with ease and confidence thanks to this new paypal-mpesa partnership that is part of the M-Pesa Global Initiative.
With over 240 million active registered accounts, PayPal is a world leader in online money transfer services with operations in almost the whole world.
On the other hand, Safaricom Mpesa is Kenya's leading mobile money transfer service with the latest statistics from communications authority of Kenya showing that Mpesa is almost hitting the 24 million subscriber mark.
This means that such a partnership is good news to many Kenyans as they can now trade and do business internationally without much worries of losing their money to international cyber attacks or scams.

Before this partnership, many Kenyans used to rely on Equity to transact on PayPal but the fact that it used to take a lot of time for the transaction to complete did not go down well with many.
There were also fears that by linking your bank account to an international payment platform like PayPal was opening your bank details to international eyes who could wipe you clean of your money made many Kenyans hesitant of doing such a link.
On the other hand, the mpesa- PayPal partnership has many advantages some of which are:
  • The transactions can now be completed within a very short period of time as compared to before.
  • Your bank details are not exposed internationally and therefore you don't need to wory of loosing your money to international scams.
