Safaricom's free 500 MB data offer has finally come to end, less than two months since it's launch. with customers now having to do with normal data bundles.

Dubbed 'Browse bila Waas' the free data campaign was launched on August 26 this year, as a move by the Telco to provide it's customers more opportunities to connect to the internet by availing affordable data plans.

The offer was available to both pre pay and post pay customers, and anyone interested had to purchase a daily offer under option 0 by dialling *544#.

The free data was awarded immediately once a customer bought the allocated data, and could be used till midnight of the same day, no matter what time it was bought.

You could pay with airtime or M-Pesa, and the free data could not be transferred to another number, and could only be awarded once per day.

Though expected to last till 19th this month, Safaricom today sent a notification to isn't customers informing them that the offer had come to an end and, and the 0 option under *544# is no longer available.

Safaricom have Been in the past criticized for short validity periods of their free offers, including the Storo bonus which experies midnight of the same day of purchase, no matter the amount or the time the customer achieved it's target.

While Celebrating their 20 year anniversary, Safaricom also announced it will give a free call to all their customers at a given day within the month. Ironically it's only the first call within the day is free upto 20 minutes, knowing very well that many calls usually last less than 5 minutes.

Safaricom have also been quickly getting any Tunukiwa offer that seem to be preferred by users off the shelf, including any unlimited daily offer.
