Compare Verizon's FiOS internet Vs at&t fiber internet plans.

Verizon FiOS Vs at&t fiber

While AT&T prides itself as the largest Telecommunications company and one of the best internet providers in the US, Verizon on it’s part is the second largest wireless carrier in the US and operates a nation-wide 4G LTE network.

Both of these telcos provide a number of broadband connections with optic including dedicated fiber internet connection and considering their huge success in this field it’s only fair in our part that we give you a detailed comparison between At&t fiber internet and Verizon’s FiOS internet plans.

In order to do so we are going to compare and contrast between these two in terms of their coverage & availability, plans as well as other offers and perks that are exclusive to fiber internet customers of each provider.

Availability:

Verizon FiOS which is an exclusive fiber internet connection is available in the states of Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, NewYork, New Jersey, Virginia, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania and Washington DC.

On the other hand at&t fiber is available in 21 states being California, Nevada, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Ohio, Kentucky, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Arkansas, Louisiana, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina and North Carolina.

While we couldn’t get the exact figures of actual customers connected to each of these providers, at&t claims that they have already Connected more than 14 Million customer locations to at&t fiber in 85 metros and are planning to add more than 2 Million customer locations in 2021.

FiOS internet plans.

Both Verizon and at&t offer three dedicated unlimited fiber internet plans with no annual contracts and data caps.

These are:

1. FiOS 200 Mbps.     $39.99/Month.

For just USD. 39.99 per month you get a 200Mbps Symmetrical fiber network with equal download and upload speeds.

This can cater for almost all your internet needs allowing you to easily browse, chat and email with ease.

2. FiOS 400 Mbps.      $64.99/Month.

This is another great FiOS Internet plan that gives you same 400Mbps download and upload speeds for USD 64.99 per month. You also get a Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 lite.

3. FiOS Gigabit Connection. $89.99/Month.

This is a high speed fiber connection that can give you up to 940Mbps download speeds and up to 880Mbps upload speeds. This can handle all your internet needs including entertainment be it streaming on multiple devices as well as multi-player gaming.

At&t fiber internet plans.

At&t fiber gives it’s customers an option to choose between three plans of internet 300, internet 500 and internet 1000.

These fiber plans have very high reliability and are considered the best options if they are available in your region.

1. Internet 300.

The 300Mbps plan costs $35 for the first 12 months then $45 after. This package is good for streaming, watching HD videos, online gaming and large file sharing.

2. Internet 500.             $45/Month

This plan costs $45 for the first 12 months then $65 per month after. This is good for multiple users, streaming and sharing large files.

3. Internet 1,000.            $60/Month.

Also  knowns as at&t Gigabit internet, this is a high speed fiber connection  $60 of up to 940 Mbps good for connected homes, heavy online gaming and  home offices.

The plan costs $ 60 for the first 12 months and then $80 after.

Looking at these two products closely, we can conclude that both providers have nearly the same Gigabit prices, but at&t is much cheaper when it comes to the other two products.

For the FiOS 200, Verizon charges USD 39.99 per month which is approximately USD 0.2 per Mbps. On it’s part at&t charges USD 35 for the 300Mbps plan for the first 12 months and USD 55 thereafter. This is approximately USD 0.12 per Mbps for the first 12 months and USD 0.18 for thereafter.

For the 400Mbps, Verizon charges USD 64.99 per month which is approximately  USD 0.16 per Mbps. At&t's 500Mbps costs USD 45 for the first 12 months and USD 65 thereafter which is equivalent to USD 0.09 per Mbps for the first 12 months and USD 0.13 thereafter.

The above data clearly shows that at&t has a slightly better price per Mbps, but before we make our conclusion it only makes sense that we first look at other charges that subscribers to these services are likely to incur.

Both providers charge a one-time installation fee of USD. 99 which can be waived if you order your fiber online. You can also choose self installation to avoid this charge.

There’s also the monthly equipment rental fee which is USD 15 per month for Verizon and USD 10 for at&t. However while Verizon customers have an option to skip this charge by either using their own compatible equipment or paying a one-time equipment charge of USD 300, at&t customers on the other hand don’t have this luxury and will have to pay the monthly USD 10 equipment rental fee.

Customers who order the FiOS Gigabit also have an extra added advantage of a free router and 2TB Verizon Cloud Storage.

On the other hand at&t customers also enjoy a number of perks including a  $150 Visa reward card for new customers as well as free HBO Max as long as they use at&t fiber.

While there’s not much difference between these two products which at&t seems to have a slight advantage over Verizon, customers don’t find themselves in a situation where they have to choose one over the other by virtue of the fact that both at&t and Verizon offer their Fiber internet services at totally different States.
