Safaricom is the leading telecommunications provider in the country with various innovative products and services. It is also well known to be slightly expensive as compared to its close rivals, with Airtel Kenya being the cheapest so far.
Among the various data plans that Safaricom offers, Blaze bundles are the most affordable, and youths below the age of 26 years can save a lot of money if they go for it.
What is safaricom Blaze.
This is a youth focused product offered by Safaricom PLC targeting youths of below 26 years, known as 'the youth network'.
It provides the youths with innovative products and services, with affordable data and devices.
It also empowered youths through various mentorship and networking programs, sometimes also giving youths business grants to further develop their innovative ideas.
To fully be a youth network, Blaze comes fully packed with it's own website, blaze.co.me, and a loyalty reward program known as blaze bonga, almost similar to Safaricom bonga but more exiting.
Blaze bonga can be redeemed for various oofers including airtime, data and merchandise from bats or even get movie tickets at Anga cinema.
Blaze data bundles.
All blaze subscribers can enjoy affordable data bundles with daily, weekly or monthly validity periods. These are:
Daily:
  • 70 Mb + 70 SMS @ Ksh. 20
  • 200Mb + 200 SMS @ Ksh.50
  • 1 GB +200 SMS @ Ksh.100
Weekly.
  • 350 Mb @ Ksh.100
  • 1 GB for Ksh.250
  • 4 GB @ Ksh.500
Monthly
  • 3 GB for Ksh.500
  • 7.5 GB for Ksh.1000
  • 20 GB for Ksh. 2000
If you compare the blaze bundles and the normal Safaricom data bundles, blaze are way cheaper.
For example, ordinary bundles gives you daily 500 mb for Ksh. 100 while with blaze you get 1 GB for the same prize.
Safaricom's most affordable monthly data plan,the monthly 2Gb goes for Ksh.500. Blaze gives you monthly 4 GB for the same prize.
If you also compare blaze bundles with Safaricom Tunukiwa data plans, you will still go for blaze.
With Tunukiwa, you can get 400 Mb for 1 day at Ksh.70. If you add only Ksh.30 to this, you will get 1 GB with blaze.
Note also that Tunukiwa data bundles don't come with free WhatsApp nor SMS.

How to sign up for blaze on USSD.
  • On your Safaricom line dial *555#.
  • Select option 1 and follow the simple steps to complete the sign up.
  • This service is only available for anyone below 26 years.
Online.
  • Go to blaze.co.me
  • Click on the menu bar at the top right hand corner.
  • Click on 'sign up'.
  • You will be redirected to the USSD code to complete the sign up.

To buy blaze bundles, simply dial *555# and select from the following:

  • 150 MB Power hour bundle @ Ksh.19
  • Daily 70 MBs + 70 SMS and free WhatsApp @ Ksh.20
