How to register, earn and redeem Telkom Ziada Points

 Telkom Ziada Points

Telkom Ziada is a loyalty program that allows Telkom Kenya subscribers earn reward points everytime they use their line to make calls send texts and Buy Data Bundles.

Being the third Largest mobile network provider in the country, Telkom has consistently rewarded their customers with Ziada Points which can later be redeemed for various services including free Airtime, data or devices. This is one of the programs that Telkom Kenya retained when it rebranded from Orange Kenya.

Available for only prepay customers, the program is almost similar to Safaricom's Bonga Points and Airtel Zawadi with a number of similarities and slight differences. All the three award their customers points for using various products and services and all allow their subscribers redeem them once they reach a given limit.

However of the three Bonga points is more advanced as it has a huge list of redeemable items and services unlike Telkom Ziada or Airtel Zawadi that only allow redemption of airtime, data and a device.

How to enroll to Telkom Ziada Program.

Any Telkom Kenya prepay subscriber gets automatically subscribed to the program immediately they register their Telkom. This removes the need by the user to sign up or register for the program and allows you  earn points right from your first top up.

All you need to do in order to earn Ziada points is to top up your Telkom line then  use it to call, send SMS or buy data bundles. Telkom have a number of data plans to choose from, their main data bundles known as Freedom bundles. Others include the Night owl and Telkom Mzito which apart from data also gives all-net call minutes.

For every Ksh. 1 spent on your Telkom line you earn one Ziada point meaning the total commulative points are equivalent to total airtime spent. On it's part, Safaricom gives 1 point for every Ksh. 10 spent.

How to check your Ziada points balance.

To know your Ziada points balance at any one given time all you have to do is dial *126# and your points balance will be display.

  • Dial *126# on your Telkom line.
  • Select option 2 "Get free Airtime"
  • Choose between Ksh.50 for 1199 points and Ksh.100 for 1999 points

Initially there was a long list of airtime to redeem as shown below, but sadly Telkom have reduced them to only two.

  • Ksh.40 for 799 points
  • Ksh.60 for 1199 points

  • Daily freedom 2 GB for 1649 points
  • Weekly 2 GB for 4149 points
  • Monthly 4 GB for 8299 points
All the freedom bundles come with free on-net calls and free WhatsApp.

How to redeem Ziada Points for a device.
Unlike Safaricom Bonga Points, Telkom have not given a list of devices that you can redeem your Ziada points for meaning you are allowed to get any device at their shop using your points. To do this all you have to do is visit any Telkom shop near you.
Incase you don't have enough points for the device of your choice you can top up the balance with cash.
How to transfer Ziada points to another number.
Unfortunately Telkom don't allow you to transfer your earned points to another number since it is ment to reward you as a loyal customer. This is not like Safaricom Bonga Points where you can transfer or send your points to another Safaricom line.
Maybe Telkom should consider changing their stand about this since it will in the end also benefit them as it will encourage more brand awareness and loyalty.
