 Spotify, the World's leading online music streaming service has finally Launched in Kenya and will be available for streaming in the country starting today making it possible for Kenyans to enjoy unlimited Music Entertainment that has been a preserve for other countries.

First Launched in 2018, Spotify is a Swedish online media streaming service with a focus in music and podcasts providing it's subscribers a chance to enjoy unlimited Music streaming and downloads.

Till yesterday Spotify has only been available in a number of select countries including the US and we first came across it when we were doing an article on Best Online Streaming services In Kenya .

While there was an initial option to sign up in Kenya using a proxy service, our attempt to do so some days ago wasn't successful, as Spotify had gotten too clever to know when you were trying to bypass Geo restrictions. We finally gave up and had to just wait till it becomes available in Kenya, since there were online rumours that it was planning to expand it's services internationally.

Come yesterday and Spotify started rolling out it's international presence in over 85 countries across Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America as well as the Caribbean.

Acording to Spotify the company is embarking on a serious Sweeping mission to connect more than a billion people in 80+ countries to unlimited Music entertainment as well as as adding over 36 Languages in their platform to make it possible for anyone in the targeted countries have an easy access and interaction with the platform.

Not wanting to be left out of this exiting offer, we signed up for the free version of Spotify this morning and while we are very pleased with the first impressions of the app we will give you our full review and opinions about Spotify in the coming days.

In order to give it's subscribers unrivalled entertainment, Spotify says that it will work closely together with local content creators and partners in order to meet the eunique needs of specific markets. This also opens a new world of opportunities to local artists and content creators of such countries.

1. Individual plan.  Ksh. 299 per month.
Initially costing USD. 9.99  approximately Ksh. 1096 per month, the Individual plan now costs only Ksh. 299 per month with a free one month subscription for new subscribers.
It gives you an access to only one account per person. 
You get a chance to enjoy unlimited Music content with no ad interuptions, play anywhere even when offline as well as access tones of on-demand music videos.

2. Duo Plan.   Ksh. 389. 
The Duo plan was initially priced at USD 12.99 approximately Ksh. 1426 before it became available in Kenya, and now costs just Ksh. 389 per month with a one month free access for new members.
 It gives you access to two premium accounts per person making it ideal for couples.
Just like the first plan it allows uninterrupted music playback including when offline, with an extra option to have a custom Duo mix which is a playlist for two with regularly updated music that both parties enjoy.

3. Family plan. Ksh. 479. 
This premium plan costs Ksh. 479 per month. It allows upto 6 premium accounts per person making it ideal for family, eliminating the need of individual family members signing up for individual accounts. There is also a Family mix option with regularly updated music content that family members enjoy.
You can also block explicit music content this protecting junior family members against harmful content, as well as access to an extra Spotify Kids which is a separate app made just for kids.

4. Student. Ksh. 149. 
The student account is the most affordable Spotify plan that costs onl Ksh. 548 per month.
It is only available to students who must have a proof of being registered in a recognised institution of higher learning. Apart of uninterrupted music playback, the offer also has an attached access to Hulu online video streaming.
The above prices makes Spotify one of the most affordable online streaming service in Kenya, expected to battle it out with the likes of Mdundo.com, Boomplay, Viusasa among other music centric online streaming service providers.

How to get connected to Spotify.
If you have an Android phone, head over to Google Play store and download the Spotify app.
Then Sign up for free using your email address, phone number or Facebook account. Once you have the free account you can try the available songs then if you love the app you can go premium by choosing any of the above plans.
While you can download music to watch later when offline, all downloaded content are stored on Spotify Cloud making it unaccessible on the device outside the platform, this you can't play their content using other players or transfer them to other devices.
This also means if for any one reason you decide to cancel your subscription you will also loose access to all the content you had downloaded earlier.
