Safaricom fibre to the home(FTTH) is a product by Safaricom PLC that connects homes to reliable secure internet services.
Launched in 2017, FTTH has been growing steadily, in a market space that has been largely dominated by Zuku and JTL's faiba.
The service is available in major cities and towns across the country and can be accessed from as little as Ksh.2900 per month for the bronze package.
Advantages of fibre to the home(FTTH)
Internet to homes has several advantages over mobile network which include:
- High speeds. Do any task that requires internet at amazing speeds, be it online gaming, live streaming downloads and much more.
- High reliability with very minimal drops in speeds or downtime.
- High quality signals making it good for video downloads and online streaming.
- Can connect multiple devices or users at a go without affecting the spedd or signal quality.
- Reliable internet connection. Safaricom is well knownnfor its reliable internet connections, and this is even more evident with the home fibre. Many users have experienced no downtimes, and for the ones that have have been only for very short intervals.
- Dedicated customer care. Any Safaricom home customer gets 24/7 customer support ready to respond to any issue that might arise.
- Reliability. Safaricom home fibre is not available all over the country, but for the few who are lucky to get connected enjoy amazing internet experience, with high reliability and no buffering. Many users testify that since being connected they have never had to call customer care since they have nothing to worry about.
- Affordable home plans. From the table below, you can see that Safaricom home has the best plans in the country, which almost every Kenyan can afford. Someone might argue that there are much cheaper options available, but we can all agree that with the quality that Safaricom home gives you, every penny will be worth it. It also doesn't make sense giving lots of bandwidth for Ksh.10,000 per month, while you can get a small bandwidth at a cheaper rate with Safaricom. After all, be it 100 Mbps or 1 Mpbs, all will be billed on a monthly basis.

Choosing the right plan means you have to strike a balance between your internet needs and the monthly bill.
But there are a few factors to consider which include:
- The kind of activities you want to use the bandwidth for. For example, if you are an average internet user, then the bronze plan is good enough, since with 5Mbps you can access all your social network sites, e-mail, do online gaming, stream with standard definition and download music and videos. If you intent to do large file transfers and downloads or HD live streaming, then you will definitely require a higher plan.
- The number of devices or users that will connect at a given time. Think of bandwidth as a water pipe, and the higher the bandwidth the more water it comes out of the pipe per second. This means the devices will be the containers to be filled with water. The more the containers, the higher the rate of water flow you will require to fill the tanks.

It allows you to check your account details, your package including name, speed and price, when due and also make payments via M-Pesa.
