Safaricom customers redeem Ksh.330 million worth of bonfa points in just 2 months.

Bonga points redeemed
Safaricom bonga is one of the most successful customer reward program in the country, giving Safaricom subscribers 1 bonga point for every Ksh.10 worth of airtime spent on calls, SMS or data.
The points can later be redeemed for various prices including airtime, data Phones among others in a list that has been constantly growing, and now bonga points is almost becoming a widely acceptable mode of payments in most Lipa na M-pesa points.
In April this year, the telco giant introduced Bonga for Good, an initiative that allowed Safaricom users redeem their bonga points for food and other basic household items in selected supermarkets across the country.
The move was aimed at further cushioning it's customers during the hard times brought about by the COVID-19 crisis.
Though initially intended to run for one month, the bonga for good which was later extended for another month came to and on June 4.
By then, a whooping Ksh.330 million worth of bonga points had been redeemed at various Lipa na M-pesa merchants.
This translates to 1 billion ponga points redeemed by over 600,000 subscribers with majority of points redeemed for household items and solar lighting solutions as well as entertainment.
Kenyans of good will were also encouraged TP transfer their unused bonga points to the need and most vulnerable members of society, and their generosity amounted to  half of the redeemed points(Ksh.150 million).
This move even touched Safarocom's CEO who said:
I commend Kenyans for standing with each other during this time of need. Even as bonga for good comes to an end, we are cognizant that a lot of Kenyans still need to access essential goods and services, that is why redemption of points at Lipa Na M-pesa merchants will remain a permanent feature of our loyalty scheme.
Though the initiative came to and on June 4th, Kenyans can still redeem their bonga points at any Lipa Na M-pesa merchant at Ksh.20 cents per point.
