According to the statement, Safaricom made a profit of 62.49 billion for their financial year ended 31/03/2019, a 17% increase from last year's 45.1 billion.
According to Safaricom's CEO Bob collymore:
The success of our business is heavily dependent on our ability to connect people to people, to knowledge and to opportunities wherever they are in Kenya and the world.
This to me is quite true, many opting to use Safaricom products due to their wide network coverage and innovative products including M-PESA.
Currently Safaricom PLC has a 3G network coverage of 93% and 4G coverage of 57% with an initiative to accelerate their 4G rollout to 5,000 sites within the next 12 months.
Their largest revenue contributors are voice calls and M-pesa, with data stagnating, majorly due to stiff competition from its rivals Telkom and Airtel.
