The daily 1Gb game in Kenya. Who wins?

Daily 1 GB data plan
Which is the cheapest daily 1 Gb data plan in kenya? Well, there seems to be a raging war between the three tec giants in Kenya; Safaricom, Airtel and Telkom Kenya on who can offer the best and cheapest 1Gb daily plan to it's customers.
Having in mind that many Kenya's have twin sim phones, with two or more sim lines, makes many ; me included, wondering on which is actually the best deal when it comes to data plans.
Each company is trying to win subscribers to their side, and with lots of marketing, it is not easily deducible which one is the best, each one making their deal look as juicy as possible.
That is why I have decided to use a lot of my valuable time, to try and dig out as much information as I can lay my hands on, so that at the end of this post you can make an informed choice, as to who really is giving you the best daily 1 Gb  data.

How did the daily 1 GB race start.
It all started with Airtel Kenya, with the introduction of the daily 1 GB at only Ksh.99, a product which was targeted at the smart phone uses.
Out of the three top tellecommunications providers in Kenya, Airtel is the most daring, and have been known to sometimes innitiate and maintain products that others cant dare try, including Airtel Tubonge which allows airtel subscribers make unlimited on net calls.
Airtel carried out a serious campaign dubbed 'smartika na 1 GB', to promote their new 1 gb  bundle and believe me, they did a good job. This was around late last year.
All heavy mobile internet users jumped with exitment to this offer, and it didn't take too long before Telkom and Safaricom realized the great following that this bundle was creating, and no matter how long that tried to outsmart Airtel, they could not help to hide that this was the cheapest daily data offer in the market then.

Next came Telkom Kenya, whom, for the same Ksh. 99 are offering daily freedom 1 GB+1 GB. According to their Facebook ad '#everybobcounts', the offer also comes with free Telkom to Telkom calls and free whats app.
I checked on the add's comments and despite a few concerns about the low connectivity, many Kenyans feel that this is ' real value for money'.
With this,Telkom outdid Airtel by an extra 1 GB, meaning Telkom's deal was twice as good as that of Airtel.
Realising that they were the only ones left out of this exiting game, Safaricom decided to opt in, though to me; unwillingly, since they did not take any effort to try and out do the others. So they offered daily 1 GB for Ksh. 99.
Butcher unlike other Safaricom daily plans the 1 Gb offer does not come with free SMS and does not contribute towards your daily storo bonus. Moreover, it's validly period cannot be extended by purchasing another offer,so if you don't exhaust your data before the end of 24 hours you loose all the remaining data.
Airtel Kenya didn't accept to be beaten in a game they had set the rules, and introduced  a 1Gb for Ksh. 49 offer. Although this is not listed with other daily data plans on *544#, you can buy it by dialling *544*49#. Since this offer is not on the daily data list, it is not clear for how long it will last. Airtel did not just stop there, but went ahead further to introduce a new 2 GB plan for Ksh.99.

Summary.
As at the time of publication of this post, the daily offers are as follows:
  • Airtel 1 GB at Ksh.49
  • Airtel 2 GB at Ksh.99
  • Safaricom 1 GB at Ksh.99
  • Telkom 2 Gb at Ksh.99 bundled with free on net calls and free what's app.
Conclusion.
Its my hope that after this lengthy discussion, you are in a better place to make informed decision about which offer gives you the best value for your money,as we wait to see who will next up the game as far as the daily data bundles are concerned.
