Unveiled December 28th 2020 in China, the Mi 11 is now available Globally after it's Global launch on Monday 8th February via a virtual event. The Xiaomi Mi 11 is priced at around Ksh. 79,999 becoming one of the cheapest flagship smartphones.
The Mi 11 will have to battle it out with other flagship Smartphones already available in the country including the Samsung Galaxy S21 series and the iPhone 12 Pro Max.
The Launch came just one month after the company Launched what is now considered the most affordable 5G Smartphones, The Xiaomi Redmi 9 5G Series. The Redmi 9 5G sold millions of pieces within hours since it's first launch November 2020 and once it becomes available in the country you will get a 5G device for just under 25 K.
The Mi 11 takes over from it's predicessor the Mi 10 Launched February 2020. Xiaomi seem to have a tradition of announcing their next gen Smartphones every February, and the Mi 11 is no different. The initial China launch in December could have been a race to have the title of being the first phone to launch with the advanced 5nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 888. And knowing how good and affordable Xiaomi Smartphones are, this will have a huge impact on flagship Phones expected to launch early this year including the Samsung Galaxy S21 series, the Oppo Find X3 series and the realme Kia among other 2021 flagships.
Apart from being the first to feature the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 888, the Mi 11 also comes with jaw dropping features including a 6.81 inch QHD display with 120 Hz refresh rate, 1,500 nits maximum brightness and a Gorilla Glass Victus protection.
In the camera department it has a Triple rear camera and a single front camera, something that could mark the end of using so much lenses when just a few can do the same job perfectly. The lenses are a 108MP primary lens, a 13MP ultrawide lens and a 5Mp macro lens. The front camera is a single 20 MP lens and something to note here is that the cameras are banking on advanced Qualcomm Camera technologies allowing them achieve upto near zero light pictures as well as 8k videos.
The Mi 11 comes with a 4,600 mAh battery with 55W fast charge giving you a 100% battery charge in just 45 minutes. It also supports 50W fast wireless charge but the bad news is that the phone ships without a charging adapter. You might find yourself using the wireless charging most of the time if you will finally settle for this beast of a phone which is gives you the power of a PC in your hand.

Lovely Design.
Design wise, the Mi 11 looks more like a combination of the Mi 10 and the Huawei P40 Pro. All the front panel is curved on all four sides like the P40 Pro. It is a beautiful phone, though I still feel it is not as cute as the February Xiaomi Mi 10.
Measuring 164.3 x 74.6 x 8.1, the Mi 11 is taller than many flagships including it's predicessor the Mi 10. It is 0.8 inches shorter than the Galaxy S21 Ultra but is 0.8 inches slimmer.
Despite it's tall stature it is much lighter at 196g bit will still call for two handed operations most of the time.
The phone is made of Gorilla Glass Victus both front and back with an aluminum frame. The Gorilla Glass Victus is so far the best Gorilla Glass and this phone is among the first phones to have such level of protection.
Xiaomi decided to try something new with their camera arrangement at the back, having an almost square module with each lens sitting slightly pronounced over the rest as you can see in the picture above.
In front is a curved display with a punch hole that houses the selfie camera. It has an impressive 91.4% screen-to-body ratio which is much better than the 89.8% on the Galaxy S21 Ultra.
Display.
The Mi 11 features a 6.81 inch AMOLED panel with 1 Billion colors. This is by far the biggest display in a Xiaomi phone, much bigger than the 6.57 in the Mi 10 pro and the 6.47 in the Mi Note 10 and Note 10 Pro. The display has a QHD resolution of 1440 x 3200 pixels and comes with 120 HZ refresh rate, 240 Hz touch sampling rate and HDR10+. This makes the Mi11 one if the best display Smartphones available. The touch sampling rate improves the phones accuracy in picking your finger's touch making it ideal for gaming and eliminates touch errors when using the keyboard. It also makes apps respond to your touch much faster than ordinary displays.
Not wanting to leave anything to chance, the phone also comes with 1500 nits maximum brightness so you can use your phone in any lighting conditions even in direct sunlight.
Performance.
The Snapdragon 888 chipset is what poweres this phone, a 5nm next gen chipset with PC like Powers, and any phone with the processor is definitely a power house. It features a 6th gen Qualcomm AI Engine with upto 26 TOPS performance. The 3rd gen X605G modem is compatible to all 5G networks including the Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (DSS) used for 5G signal extension.
The Camera specs of the Snapdragon 888 allows you shoot multiple pictures and videos simultaneously using all the lenses as well as take incredible Night pictures at close to zero Lighting conditions.
Being a 2021 phone, the Xiaomi Mi 11 comes with the latest Android 11 atop Xiaomi's own MIUI 12.5.
The Cameras.
The 108 MP main camera is what we first saw in the Xiaomi Mi 10, and we all agreed that it was one of the best if not the best camera on a smartphone. Combine this Snapdragon 888 smart camera features and you get a photography genius. Camera features include real-time object classification, low light photography architecture, 10-bit HDR HEIF and Multi-Frame Noise Reduction among others.
You can shoot videos upto 8K, and studio-style slomotion videos.
Powering the Mi 11 is a 4,600 mAh Li-po non removable battery with 55W fast charge support. With this you can get 100% charge in just 45 minutes. This is not close to the 120W fast charge in Xiaomi 10 Ultra Wich can give 100% in just 23 minutes. Maybe Xiaomi decided to keep this for the Mi 11 Ultra, knowing too well that the Qualcomm Quick Charge 5 technology can achieve 0-100% charge in less than 15 minutes, we could see something close to these in the next Xiaomi Mi ultra Smartphone.
Days before the launch of the Mi 11, Xiaomi announced that it would not include the charger in the package so as to make the box look as sleem as possible, and if you don't have a compatible charger already you will most likely use the 50W fast wireless charge which is pretty good as well.
You can also use the phone as a power bank to charge other phones using the 10W reverse wireless.
The phone supports power delivery 3.0 as well as Quick Charge 4+ technology.
Conclusion.
The Mi 11 is a true flagship phone with a number of premium specs expected of any 2021 flagship smartphone. Considering that it costs way cheaper than similar phones makes this phone one of the most affordable flagships and if you can afford to have one it will be worth your money.
